The air expands and escapes from the jar. As no new air can enter, a vacuum is created. The fire cupping jar must now be quickly applied to the corresponding area of the skin. Depending on the skin and the part of the body, a jar of different size is used. For dry cupping, jars with a suction ball are used. The suction ball is pressed before being applied to the skin and is only released after it is placed on the skin. The ball then fills with air from the jar, creating a vacuum.
